Under An Hour From Milwaukee Is Wisconsin's Historic Park With A Covered Bridge, Fishing, And Paddling - Islands
The last surviving covered bridge in Wisconsin headlines a bill of fishing and paddling in this delightful park north of Milwaukee. Covered Bridge County Park, a 13-acre community park in Wisconsin, houses the last surviving original covered bridge in the state, known as the Cedarburg Bridge. The historic landmark was built in 1876 and stretches 120 feet over Cedar Creek and is well-preserved, with fully enclosed sides made of locally milled pine. The bridge is secured with 2-inch hardwood pins instead of bolts or nails, allowing people to walk its length and imagine what it must have been like to cross without turning back. Located just an hour from Milwaukee, Covered Bridge is considered one of Wisconsin's most charming attractions. The park is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and is only 10 minutes from Downtown Cedarburg.
