Brewers lefty Aaron Ashby nears postseason scoreless relief record with World Series save
Aaron Ashby’s playoff struggles in previous years taught him how important it was to avoid getting caught up in the pressure of the moment. The mindset shift has helped the Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Aaron Ashby has scored one of the greatest runs by any reliever in postseason history, reaching a record-breaking 15-2-3 scoreless relief innings this postseason. He finished a five-out save after the Brewers overcame a four-run deficit in a 5-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays, securing a 2-0 World Series lead. Ashby's victory extended his shutout streak this postseason to 15 2/3 innings. He has also thrown a career-best 20 2/ 3 scoreless innings in this postseason, surpassing Cleveland's Andrew Miller's 16 in 2016. Despite previous playoff struggles, Ashby had been successful this year, having allowed nine runs in 9 1/3 playoff innings. His performance has helped the Brewers come from behind in seven of their nine victories.
