Under An Hour From Milwaukee Is Wisconsin's Darling Forest Lake With Camping, Fishing, And Boating - Islands
Nestled within Kettle Moraine State Forest, Pike Lake is a local gem for woodsy camping, cruising by boat, and casting a line for a variety of gamefish. Wisconsin's Darling Forest Lake, located just an hour from Milwaukee, offers camping, fishing, and boating opportunities. Pike Lake is located in the Kettle Moraine State Forest, established in 1937 to protect the glacially carved landscape of southeastern Wisconsin. The 750-acre unit was created in the 1960s and now contains a 1,350-foot glacial mound called Powder Hill. It borders Pike Lake, a 522-acre kettle lake fed by clear spring water. Visitors can access the lake using a boat launch along the southeast corner of the lake, which also has plenty of boat trailer parking. The fishing season in Wisconsin typically runs from May until early March, depending on species. All anglers aged 16 and older must have a valid state fishing license to cast into Pike Lake. To visit Kettlemoraine StateForest, purchase a daily or annual vehicle admission pass from the Wisconsin State Park System.
