Sports anchor Lance Allan says Milwaukee's WTMJ-TV (Channel 4) 'has decided to let me go'

Longtime WTMJ-TV (Channel 4) sports anchor Lance Allan announced on social media Thursday night that the Milwaukee NBC affiliate "has decided to let me go — and actually lop a year off my contract."

"So, I'm a pending free agent. I'm excited about the future … ," Allan said in a video, noting he had been with Channel 4 for 28 years. "I'm excited for what the future holds."

Allan, who was 25 when he joined Channel 4 in 1996, said he plans to stay in the Milwaukee community.

According to his bio on Channel 4's website, Allan grew up in Rice Lake and studied broadcast journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He interned at WMTV-TV in Madison, and joined Channel 4 as a sports reporter and weekend sports anchor in 1996 after stints at WJFW-TV in Rhinelander and WFRV-TV in Green Bay.
