Wisconsin firefighters look to climb up standings on 'The Amazing Race'; Former Packers WR Rod Gardner, wife Leticia remain in front of pack

'The Amazing Race' remains in Colombia for episode 4 and two teams with Wisconsin connections are still racing for the $1 million prize. Former NFL football player Rod Gardner and wife Leticia Gardner are leading the season 36 of "The Amazing Race" with a strong performance on the current leg of the race in Colombia. Wisconsin firefighters Sunny Pulver and Bizzy Smith, who started the fourth leg in seventh place, are expected to continue their strong performance. The fourth episode of "Amazing Race" titled "Those Who Wander Are Not Lost" will air on CBS3 at 8:30 p30pm on Wednesday, Central time.

Last week, contestants on season 36 of "The Amazing Race" had to climb 740 steps to the top of the El Peñon de Guatapé landmark in Colombia to begin the leg.

This week, contestants will get a different view of the country when teams paraglide at the start of the episode.

“I’m on top of the world,” said Rod Gardner, the former NFL football player who is running the race with his wife, Leticia, from the skies.

Will the Gardners get back to the top of "The Amazing Race" standings tonight during episode 4?

And will Wisconsin firefighters Sunny Pulver and Bizzy Smith keep climbing the ranks after running their best leg during an emotional day.

Here's what to know about the fourth episode of "The Amazing Race" with a focus on the teams that have Wisconsin connections.

Rod Gardner and Leticia Gardner on 'The Amazing Race' have been powerhouse

The Gardners had dominated the first two legs of "The Amazing Race" in Mexico. They had another respectable leg last week, finishing in fifth place, as the race shifted to Colombia. In fact, they were just seconds away from fourth place. Best friends Juan Villa and Shane Bilek beat them to the mat in a photo finish.

One of the early tasks slowed the Gardners in the third episode as they had to cook a traditional Colombian meal.

The team they had fended off the first two weeks — boyfriends Ricky Rotandi and Cesar Aldrete — broke through for their first win last week.

The Gardners are in a crowded pack as they start the leg in Medellín, Colombia.

The competitiveness and drive of Rod Gardner, who played six seasons in the NFL and two games with the Packers in 2005, has been on display early on in the season. Leticia, though worried at times of keeping up, should not sell herself short.

Despite their drop in the standings, Rod and Leticia remain one of the favorites as "The Amazing Race" continues during its 36th season. Dont' be surprised if they get back near the top in episode 4.

Sunny Pulver and Bizzy Smith look to keep momentum going on 'The Amazing Race'

After two ninth-place finishes the first two weeks, Sunny Pulver of Edgerton and Bizzy Smith of New Berlin will start the fourth leg in seventh place.

Pulver was racing with a heavy heart in the last leg after learning about the death of her grandma back home. She felt her grandma's spirit with her, she said, as they raced in Colombia.

The self-described "badasses" have worked well together and continue to have a positive attitude even as they have spent much of the race in the back of the pack.

The duo, who have said they want to be an inspiration for their girls at home, appear poised for a big episode.

Regardless, the best friends will likely be enjoying themselves while doing it as their sunny personalities have come across to the audience.

• Ricky Rotandi and Cesar Aldrete (dating) - First place after leg three

• Rod and Leticia Gardner (married; Rod is a former NFL wide receiver who briefly played for the Green Bay Packers in the 2005 season) - Fifth place, dropped four spots

• Sunny Pulver and Bizzy Smith (best friends/firefighters from Wisconsin) - Seventh place, up two spots

• Anthony and Bailey Smith (twin brothers) - Eliminated in third episode

• Chris Foster and Mary Cardona-Foster (father-daughter) - Eliminated in second episode

• Rohan and Maya Mody (brother, sister) - Eliminated in first episode
