MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Friends of MADACC hosted a free vaccine clinic at the Milwaukee Area Domestic Control Commission on Saturday, March 30.

Friends of MADACC sponsored the vaccines, covering the costs of today's vaccinations. The event was held for Milwaukee County residents and about 500 pets came through.

Organizers say they had to close early because of the overwhelming demand.

This is a well-needed service within the community. We also are handing out food, spay and neuter vouchers for dogs and cats. We want to help people out with their pets, and we don't want finances to be a burden," said Amila Rizvic, president of Friends with MADACC.

Friends of MADACC also sent some pet owners home with collars, leashes, and food.
