Suspects Arrested For Stealing Copper Wire from City Streetlights
Man known as the 'Green Goblin' and accomplices allegedly stole thousands of feet of copper wire. Three men, known as Alvin Clifton Harris, Mario Gill, and Daryll Horton, have been arrested on suspicion of stealing thousands of feet of copper wire from the City of Milwaukee's streetlight system. Over the past two years, thieves have stolen over $800,000 worth of copperwire from the city through approximately 250 individual heists. The Milwaukee County district attorney charged the men with stealing copper wire, among other counts including fleeing officers and possession of cocaine. The mayor of Milwaukee stated that streetlights are a vital part of public safety in cities and that the thefts are making it harder for the city to keep streetlights on. The department is working to make the copper wire harder to steal and is urging scrap metal dealers to be alert to the possibility of copper material being stolen.
