Milwaukee exhibition explores the many feelings, experiences of infertility
An exhibition at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design's Frederick Layton Gallery showcases art that delves into the spectrum of experiences with infertility, from navigating diagnosis to miscarriage and in vitro fertilization. An exhibition at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design's Frederick Layton Gallery is on display in the city until Nov. 21. The exhibition, which includes work from dozens of artists, aims to visually present the complicated emotions and experiences families face when trying to conceive. Maria Novotny, an Associate Professor of English at UW-Milwaukee and co-curator of the exhibition, hopes the artwork will encourage conversation and community-building for those struggling with infertility diagnosis. The exhibit also aims to draw attention to the politics surrounding reproductive care, including the absence of any state law requiring insurers to cover fertility treatment.
