Rays, Brewers World Series rivalry sparks a win-win wager
Mayors Ken Welch and Cavalier Johnson are turning a friendly rivalry into an opportunity to support their communities. The Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2 in the first game of the World Series, but the winner must win four games. St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch and Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson have agreed to a challenge that could result in the losing mayor wearing the opposing team's team jersey around town. Both mayors are encouraging their cities to raise money for community organizations, with St. Pete Free Clinic being the primary beneficiary. If the Brewers win, Welch will wear a Brewers jersey and Johnson will wear an opposing Rays jersey. The mayors also plan to exchange gifts showcasing their respective cities. This is the first time the Rays and Brewers have faced each other in a World Series.
