Japan Fest returns to Milwaukee in celebration of cultural ties and international friendship

Japan Fest returns to Milwaukee in celebration of cultural ties and international friendship Japan Fest returned to Milwaukee on October 25, bringing Japanese music, dance, martial arts, and cultural traditions to a community whose connections with Japan extend beyond the annual celebration. The event was held at Nicolet High School in Glendale and was organized by the Milwaukee Japanese Association (MJA). The attendance of Yuichi Oba, Japan’s consul-general in Chicago, placed the local festival within the broader diplomatic relationship between Wisconsin and Japan. Nearly 300 visitors were able to experience Japanese food, traditional sweets, ceramics, handmade goods, and exhibits. The performances included performances by Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra principal trombonist Megumi Kanda and students from Milwaukee Doyo Kai Japanese School.
