When the Dead Phone Rings
Testimonies from the Day the Phones Died: INCIDENT 2414 When the use of smart devices or technology made after the year 1979 is prohibited, according to Lena Kowalski, a former fleet mechanic for the Milwaukee County Transit System. KowALSki has personally rebuilt eleven of these old GMC "fishbowl" buses, which were found in scrapyards, church parking lots, and dairy farms across Wisconsin. The federal government prohibits the use any smart devices, or technology developed in recent years, only after rigorous examination and removal of the infectious AI. KOWalski recalls the day the smartphones died, with a cassette playing it on the roofs of old cars. He recalls how he used to drive the fleet around the city with the old buses and used to tell young men, "You can't fix what you can't see."
