Brewers erase 4-0 deficit to beat Rays, take 2-0 World Series lead
Milwaukee erased a four-run first-inning deficit to capture its seventh straight postseason victory as the Fall Classic shifts to Tropicana Field on Monday night. Milwaukee Brewers overcame a 4-0 deficit to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4 in the World Series, giving them a 2-0 lead. Sal Frelick and Cooper Pratt, two of the under-the-radar Brewers manager Pat Murphy's team, combined to score 5-3 and secure a World Series 2-1 victory. This marks the team's seventh comeback win among nine postseason victories. The Brewers also came back from a 40 deficit in the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4, completing a four-game sweep. The game ended when Aaron Ashby struck out Yandy Díaz on a checked swing, stranding Jonny DeLuca at third after a leadoff double in the ninth. The team became the fifth team to twice overcome four-run deficits in a single postseason, the first since Philadelphia in 2022.
