Under An Hour From Milwaukee Is Wisconsin's Historic Park With A Covered Bridge, Fishing, And Paddling
The last surviving covered bridge in Wisconsin headlines a bill of fishing and paddling in this delightful park north of Milwaukee. Covered Bridge County Park, an almost 13-acre community park in Wisconsin, hides the last surviving original covered bridge in the state. The historic landmark, known as the Cedarburg Bridge, was built in 1876 and stretches 120 feet over Cedar Creek. The bridge is well-preserved, with fully enclosed sides made of locally milled pine. Visitors can explore the park and fish in a bid to find a deep pool where northern pike hang out. The park is also a great place for paddlers to access Cedar Creek and is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and is only 10 minutes from Downtown Cedarburg. The best time to visit Covered Bridge is fall, with temperatures in October hovering around 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
