At 92, Bud Selig hopes this is the moment he finally sees the Milwaukee Brewers win a title

Bud Selig hoped for a smoother World Series start than in 1982. Former Brewers owner and baseball commissioner, Bud Selig, hopes to see the Milwaukee Brewers win a title for the first time in their history after his mother broke her hip during the World Series game in 1982. Despite winning the game 10-0 but losing the Series in Game 7, the Brewers lost 6-3 to the Cardinals. Selig attended the first game of the year and handed the ball to Brewers' Hall of Famer Robin Yount, who threw the pitch and returned it to Selig. He was also a minority investor in the Milwaukee Braves, who won two NL pennants and the 1957 World Series. Seligs was awarded the team by bankruptcy referee Sidney C. Volinn a week before opening day and became acting baseball commissioner in 1992. He remained as commissioner until his retirement in 2015 at age 80. Current owner Mark Attanasio bought the Brewers from the Selig family in 2005. A statue of Selig was dedicated to him outside Family Field in 2010.
