The Green Bay Packers have the potential to do something special in 2024. The latter half of the 2023 season proved this young team has what it takes to compete with some of the best teams in the league. They went 7-3 in their final 10 games which included a dominant win over the Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs.

The Packers are still one of the youngest teams in the league going into 2024. They’ve acquired some top tier talent in free agency as well as addressed multiple areas of weakness through the draft.

One veteran they acquired this off-season has a lot to play for in 2024.

Green Bay Packers’ Veteran Will Need To Give It His All In 2024

Before the 2024 NFL Draft the Packers decided to bring in some veteran help along the offensive line. Veteran Andre Dillard was signed to a one-year $1.125 million dollar contract. It was the minimum amount he could sign for with his level of experience in the NFL.

Additionally, he did not get a single dollar of guaranteed money. In other words, he will need to earn every bit of his one-year contract. However, his wallet isn’t the only thing at stake.

According to Rob Reischel of Forbes:

This isn’t the way Andre Dillard could have envisioned things. Not his four years in Philadelphia. And certainly not his one-year stint in Tennessee. But now, Dillard — a 2019 first round draft pick by the Eagles — is trying to save his career in Green Bay. Dillard signed a one-year, $1.125 million contract with the Packers in April that included no guaranteed money. So Dillard is operating on a “prove it” deal as he fights to stay in the league. “I’m still here, still around, because I believe that there’s a lot of good football ahead of me,” Dillard said. “I don’t really look behind me at a bunch of stuff that’s already happened to me. You learn from previous experiences, and … put one foot in front of the other.”

Dillard certainly picked a good time to come to the Packers. There will be competition for a starter at nearly every position on the offensive line. Not only that, but protecting Jordan Love will be the Packers’ top priority this off-season.

It is worth noting that Dillard has received some pretty consistent reps with the starting unit so far in practice.
