Community update from Women and Children's Horizons: Help us help our community
Women and Children’s Horizons is known for working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. When people turn to WCH, we always respond. We tell success stories Women and Children's Horizons (WCH) is seeking financial assistance due to reductions in grant funding. Approximately 80% of WCH funding comes through grant funding, particularly the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant, which will be cut by nearly 60% starting October 1, 2024. This will mean a minimum of $100,000 decrease in funding for WCH. The Kenosha community has been generous with in-kind donations, including bedding, personal hygiene products, clothing, or other needed supplies. WCH is asking for immediate assistance to prevent the loss of services. Donations can be made online at www.wchkenosha.org or by calling 262-656-3500.

Women and Children’s Horizons is known for working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. When people turn to WCH, we always respond. We tell success stories about clients who overcame obstacles to begin new lives for themselves and their families.
WCH talks about these successes because you, through your support of WCH, have been an integral part of changing lives.
WCH is facing a financial crisis caused by large reductions in grant funding. We need your help immediately to ensure no loss of our services.
In addition to community donations, approximately 80% of WCH funding comes through grant funding, especially the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant. This grant funding Wisconsin receives will be cut by nearly 60% starting October 1, 2024, which will mean a minimum of $100,000 decrease in funding for WCH. Our community’s financial support help is needed now more than ever.
“Susan” and her three children came to the WCH shelter when “Susan” left her partner after suffering 10 years of physical and emotional abuse. At our shelter, we provided beds, food, and hope for a better future.
Our Kenosha community has always been generous with in-kind donations. Anytime WCH has put out a call for bedding, personal hygiene products, clothing, or other needed supplies, our friends and neighbors have given generously. During the holidays, the community’s goodwill shines by the bounty of gifts that are brought in for the families that we serve. WCH is fortunate and grateful to have donors who show their financial generosity at the end of the year.
With the help of a WCH Advocate, they began to heal from their trauma. “Susan” was able to obtain a restraining order, get counseling for herself and her children, and find a place to live where they could begin their lives free of violence.
We appreciate the support that we have gotten from our community. As we navigate this challenging transitional year, we ask you to consider providing or increasing your financial support so WCH can continue to help keep our residents safe. Every dollar is used for client services in Kenosha County. Donations can be made online at www.wchkenosha.org or by calling 262-656-3500.
Everyone can have a role in ending domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. We need our Kenosha community to support us in continuing this important work.
