Report: Brandon Woodruff Was Considered for Game 3 Opener Role, Now What?
The Milwaukee Brewers made the right call ahead of Game 3. The Milwaukee Brewers have reportedly considered using pitcher Brandon Woodruff as an opener in Game 3 of the 2026 World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays. Woodruff, who hasn't pitched in a game yet, was considered for the role but could only go at most two innings. The team also considered Dustin May as a potential Game 4 opener, but the better usage would probably be in Game 4. The decision to not use Woodruff against the Rays was a wise one, as Rays are notoriously tough on lefties. If the Brewers are comfortable with using Woodruff in a World Series game, they could do it on Tuesday.
